Introduction

Facial and body skin tightening with a variety of lasers and infrared and radiofrequency devices has been described. We sought to evaluate whether treatment with a broad band light source with both superficial and deep light penetration could be utilized for face and body skin tightening.

50 patients were treated on faces, necks, abdomens, legs or arms with a Sciton BBL (broad band light) device with a cutoff filter of 800nm and integrated skin cooling. Settings used were 35-40 j/cm2/pass with 5 passes per area. No topical or other anesthetic was used. Patients were treated up to 4 times at monthly intervals. Photographic documentation was used.

All patients completed their treatment with minimal to moderate pain. There were no instances of burns or pigmentary changes. Results were best for neck area and least for lateral arms.
